Summary: Many say Michelle Obama's portrait looks nothing like her. The Obama family portraits were revealed on Monday and will hang in the National Portrait Gallery. The former president's picture was very interesting, but what interested people more was the fact that Mrs. Obama didn't bear that much resemblance to her picture. Amy Sherald, a Baltimore based artist, created her portrait. She won the 2016 Outwin Boochever award and is known for painting African American's against brightly colored backdrops. But, according to the article formal portraits are allowed to be up for interpretation and don't really have to look exactly like the person.
Analysis: Personally, I think it's the thought and the meaning behind the portrait that counts. I think that Mrs. Obama is just happy for the event in general, and it doesn't really affect her the fact that her picture doesn't look exactly like her. It's a beautiful picture and the artist that made it is very talented!
