In the wake of the most recent school shooting, many teachers are questioning the idea of arming themselves.“When I started teaching I thought I was just coming in to teach,” said José Luis Vilson, 36, a middle school math teacher in New York City. The overwhelming problem is how to prevent this from happening. There are too many students for teachers to look through individually for warning signs. Many teachers wish they had baseball bats, bullet proof vests, and other ways to protect themselves and their students in the event of a school shooting. Others are questioning procedures on how to protect students during a shooting if they are in the halls or have special needs.
While I think this event is incredibly awful, I think it will make schools safer. In the event of another shooting, teachers and students will be more prepared and know how to stay safe.

London Hibbs- seems like it could be a good idea in some ways but how does a school board know when a teacher could be mentally unstable?
