A teacher at a private catholic school was fired from her position for being gay. The principal stated that the children's education is the school’s top priority and they want whatever is best for the children. The first grade teacher, however, was loved dearly by her students and family members of the students because she had created such a loving and positive classroom environment. Parents are very mad for the principal taking this drastic and unfair action. The major reason why this teacher was fired was because she posted pictures and videos of her wedding with her gay partner on facebook.
I personally think that this is absurd. No one's rights should be taken away because they are gay. Everyone has their own type of beauty that makes us all unique and should be celebrated. This reminds me of in APUSH how african americans were at times segregated and stripped of rights that were rightfully theirs.
I think its wrong that the catholic school fired her because she is gas. In the catholic faith being anything but straight is a sin so,I think as long as she's not encouraging gay in the school there should be no reason to fire her.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It’s much more important that the children are in a supportive environment than them being “sinners”. It just doesn’t sit right for me.

ReplyDeleteI think that it’s crazy that we live in the 21st century and people are still loosing jobs because of their sexual orientation. If anything the teacher was setting an example to students who might be gay to express themselves.
This is horrible to hear. It's not right that she was fired for embracing who she is.
