Old tattoo to blame for woman's 'cancer'
In a report released on Monday, September 25th, a woman(whose name wasn't released) was suspected to have a type of cancer called lymphoma. Doctors traced the source of the inflamed lymph nodes back to a tattoo the woman had gotten done a whole 15 years earlier. In this rare case, the black inc from the woman's tattoo had interned through her skin into her immune system, however the inc didn't cause a reaction until many years later. In her case unfortunately, the bacteria from the inc built up over time: causing the infection to be even more sever. The woman's inflammations where reported to have subsided, however she must return to the doctor each month in order to prevent further damage to her immune system. The purpose of this article is to bring awareness to the dangers of tattoos. The author's point was that although tattoos can be removed, their affects can be very harmful and permanent. Simply going to an improperly trained tattoo artist could result in complications to your immune system or even cause inflammation in your lungs. The act of getting a tattoo isn't what is harmful, it is the lack of knowledge about tattoos and their complications if applied wrong that causes the risks.
Tattoos are so popular now that I wonder if the information about how harmful tattoos can be is accessible, because getting a tattoo is such a "cool" thing to do now.

ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know tattoos could seep through your skin, much less cause harm such as cancer. I wonder how many cases there are where tattoos caused illness. Is this a well known fact?
Tattoos have been around for many years and are very popular and I had no idea they could cause cancer!
