Despite attracting tourists and being known for its rich culture, New Orleans is a very dangerous place. There have been over 30 murders so far this year and it's considered on track to be one of the lowest amount of murders in a year. The deaths are caused by gang violence, theft and easy access to guns. Guns are bought to have protection against other people with guns but in reality it just increases the chances of death for everyone.
This is similar to how politicians practiced mudslinging towards each other and fought bad propaganda with bad propaganda. Instead of making either candidate look good, it just made both sides look bad.
