Convicted killer is finally freed
The article I read from CNN follows a man who in 2011 was convicted of a 1957 cold case murder and thrown in jail. The man, Jack McCullough, has finally been proven innocent and is no longer convicted killer; he's free. He interviewed with CNN just hours after being deemed a free man. Throughout the interview, McCullough discusses the origin of his conviction, life behind bars, and his proof that he didn't murder his 7 year-old neighbor, Maria Ridulph.
The article particularly interest me because it reminded me of the old, historical saying, "innocent until proven guilty." Obviously proving his innocence took a lot longer than anyone anticipated, however the statement is still true and now McCullough is a free man. In this case, all the amendments about having a right to a lawyer, having a right a judge, and having the right to remain silent, have favored the no longer convicted killer. Although taboo at the time, the creation of those amendments maintain our systems of law and order.

Good that he has finally been let out, but sad that he was held in jail for a crime he didn't commit.
