On the most recent episode of SNL, a pro-Trump political ad was played. Once Bobby Moynihan showed up though, you knew this was anything but pro-Trump. The "ad" starts with "let's see what real Americans think of Trump" and has a woman ironing clothes, a man with firewood, a man sitting in a room looking at the camera, and Bobby painting on the side of a barn/house. They each say things real Trump supporters have said, like "he's authentic" or "he says what I'm thinking". After all the innocent remarks are made, the people are revealed to be members of the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists--you know, the usual.
None of this would be possible without the Zimmerman trial. The Zimmerman trial basically made it legal to talk about the government and politics and all that in the paper, etc. Thanks to this, protests can't end in lynchings, at least not now, and people can make fun of anyone or thing they want to. If this case hadn't ended the way it did, SNL probably would've never made it to its 40 year anniversary.
