Layla Maynard: Injuries on the USS Eisenhower

Summary: In an aircraft landing last Friday, March 18, eight sailors were injured on the USS Eisenhower which is stationed off the coast near Norfolk, Virginia. Though it wasn't an irregular landing, the arresting gear responsible for catching the landing airplanes was broken on the deck of the ship. The plane landing was an E-2C Hawkeye aircraft. All injured sailors are in stable condition and no lives were lost. Though the exact cause of the accident isn't known, the aircraft was able to regain flight and safely return to its base at Norfolk Naval Station Chambers Field. The Navy is issuing an immediate investigation of the incident.

Analysis: We have to realize how incredibly lucky it is that no one was seriously injured or even killed, as we see accidents like this often result in serious casualties. I think it's respectable that the names of the "victims" aren't being released. It makes sense of course to conduct an investigation, however I am curious to see what information they will find, and how quickly they will be able to adjust other aircrafts like the one mentioned in order to prevent incidents like this occurring again.
