"Should Stun Guns Be Banned?" -Aleah Washington 1st period

In Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court the state law of prohibiting the possession of stun guns was overturned because it violated the second amendment. Stun guns produce a non-lethal electrical charge and even though they are less popular than handguns they are still used as self-defense across the country. Justice Samuel Alito said "Massachusetts' categorical ban of such weapons therefore violates the Second Amendment." Electronic stun guns can't be protected by the Second Amendment because they were unknown to the First Congress.

In one case a woman purchased a stun gun for self-defense against her abusive former boyfriend. She threatened to us it on him one night as he approached her as she left work. Jaime Caetano was later arrested because stun guns are banned in Massachusetts and was later held for conviction. This is wrong because instead of realizing she was in danger, the court just focused on the fact the had a weapon that was banned in the state. This is important because Amendment should be revised or enforced since there is controversy now.
