$100 Million to help Native American women in Ontario // Maddie Hanratty 8th

Ontario, Canada is raising $100 Million to try to put an end to violence against Native American women. These women are three times more likely to be murdered or directly encounter violence in their lifetime than other women, according to the article.

This is really important to the Ontario communities and families. These women and people have faced so much hardship and I'm glad this part of Canada has taken the stance to protect the women and girls growing up in fear.

In American history, Native Americans have been, more often than not, mistreated with conquistadore's harsh standards, forced Americanization, and the Indian Removal Acts with president Andrew Jackson. To have something in Canada that not only helps Native Americans, but also women, will hopefully inspire Americans to do the same and extend respect to the cultures that make up American society.
