After realizing Calvin Coolidge is the only President to have ever visited Cuba while in office, Obama decided to dig up his bucket hat and fly to Cuba. Obama is the second President to visit Cuba while in office, succeeding Coolidge 88 years later. Jimmy Carter has been to Cuba but he doesn't count because he wasn't the President during his visit.
The President of Cuba, Raul Castro, and Barack Obama are working things out so the US' embargo on Cuba could finally be lifted and Cuba and the US could work together once again. Although Cuba is still communist, the two countries have acknowledged their differences and are putting them aside so that they can work together again.
The US hasn't had much contact with Cuba since JFK signed off on the Cuba embargo in 1962 after Soviet missiles were found on the island. Now that 54 years have passed, the Soviet Union has collapsed, and JFK has been assassinated, the US wants to let Cuba back in. I think the US should lift its embargo and work things out with Cuba, unlike Fidel Castro who wants nothing to do with the US (conservative connection)

Matthew Homsher 9th- I agree that it is time to have open trade with Cuba. Let's bury the Cold War like Obama said in his speech.
