A trooper that retired 4 years ago killed a turnpike toll collector as well as a security guard in the robbery attempt. This occurred in Fort Littleton, Pennsylvania when Clarence Briggs came up to two toll collectors with a handgun. He killed one of the collectors named Danny Crouse who had only been working there for three months and left the other one uninjured. After that, he fired at the fare collection vehicle causing the driver to flee so he could drive to his car. As he unloaded money, troopers arrived to the scene within minutes and Briggs exchanged shots with them until he was wounded and soon dead. Other officers claim that they are trying to improve the system and the article says that there was "no indication of the reason for his actions."
This reminds me of when African Americans were rioting during the Civil Rights Movement. Although they had low-paying jobs and lived in poverty, it was not acceptable to act violently. Of course, it's important to act on something if you disagree but it's best to do it in a non-violent and peaceful way. Briggs had no reason to rob/kill/steal but I'm sure he made it just in his head. The entire story is shocking to me especially because he had been working as a trooper for 26 years before this happened.

That's pretty crazy to hear! I wonder what was going on inside his head before and during all that, and I wonder if being a state trooper had anything to do with it...
