New Religious Freedom Law Raises Controversy; Lauren Bush; 9th

On March 26, Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a new law named the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. But those who think the new law could be used to discriminate against LGBTQ individuals have started to boycott this law. In fact, mayors of Seattle and San Francisco have banned all official travel to Indiana. The hashtag #boycottIndiana is trending on Twitter, diffusing arguments regarding this law nation-wide. This isn't the first time disagreements between regions and/or states has caused such widespread controversy. For example, during the Civil War, the North and the South split due to a number of social and political disagreements.
