Girl escapes kidnapper in Japan after 2 years, calls police on pay phone
Early Monday in Japan, Japenese police caught the twenty-three year-old man who had been keeping a teenage girl held captive for two years. The teenage girl disappeared from her hometown in Saitama near Tokyo when she was thirteen years old. The fifteen year-old girl escaped Kabu Terauchi's apartmen in Tokyo, when he went shopping in a district close to Tokyo known for technology and comics etc. Terauchi forgot to lock the door behind him when he left, so after he left, she made a run for it. The girl was seen wearing sweats and sandals in the cold weather running downtown to a train station to find a payphone and call her parents. Police aren't releasing her name because she is a minor, but she is safe. Police caught him in a forest west of Tokyo bleeding from the neck; in attempt to failed suicide.
This article is jaw-dropping! How crazy that a fifteen year-old girl had to go through all of this and was so bold. Even though this story happened in Japan, hopefully kids and teenagers can take awareness to this story and it will be an eye-opener that the world is a crazy place and that we all need to stay cautious, at all times.

Kenley Turner 3rd period- This is obviously really scary, and I hope that other people in this situation get lucky like this, and are smart.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy! I can't even imagine being in that position; I would be so terrified. I'm glad she's safe, and I agree, teenagers should be cautious and aware.
