Final five election by Shara Jeyarajah p.8

Earlier today, on the same day as Obama's historic conference with Cuba. The final five presidential candidates made closing statements. Trump talked about how taking part in NATO is "too expensive".  He Also said that he would remove US Embassy troops to Jerusalem. Lastly, he said that he would open a hotel in Havana. The relevance of this statement to him being president is lost in my eyes.
Clinton jabs Trump for his use of bigotry and bullying present in his campaign. She also says that she wants Obama's nominated Supreme Court justice, Merrick garland, should have hearings held. She did not make it clear whether she would appoint Garland as justice if she became president.
Cruz believes that Obama's foreign policy concerning Ukraine is not strong. He also believes that Obama should be talking to those oppressed rather than leaders in Cuba.
Sanders called America to help bridge the gap between Israelis and Palestinians by working with each side. He also backs Obama's visit to Cuba. Sanders than says that he has a better judgment of foreign policy than former Secretary of State, Clinton.
Kasich says that the US should strengthen NATO and arm Ukrainians to fight against Putin's rule. He also says that Clinton made poor judgement when intervening in Libya.

This whole presidential campaign seems different than the others I've experienced in my lifetime. Sometimes more malicious, sometimes more downright insane. I have to say I'm excited for this election to come to an end, and I hope America makes the best choice for a leader.
This synthesizes to when McCarthy Was in a position of power. Rather than making informed and calm speeches, he vehemently insulted other politicians with immature jibes. Much of this has been present in this election in my opinion.

  2. Nice synthesis! I agree with you about this campaign being different. Maybe it is because we have gotten to that age where we understand and hear about everything that goes on, but also I think the candidates have something to do with it.

  3. They always insult each other but the candidates never really elaborate on how to do it better.

  4. There's a clear difference between the candidates who seem to think any level of military force can solve every problem. And those that believe peaceful diplomacy is the answer. That war is the last resort not the first option
