CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, recently took the stage to introduce a new Apple product: the 4-Inch Apple iPhone SE. This is surprising, considering the Apple iPhones have just increased in size. From the 3.5 inch screen to the 5.5 inch screen (iPhone 6s Plus). However, the size of the screen of the SE is smaller than its predecessor, the iPhone 6s. In addition, Cook also announced a new iPad pro, new watch bands, and new software technology. The iPhone SE, even though reduced in size, will act exactly the same as the iPhone 6s, in terms of graphics performance and processing. However, it will be the size of the iPhone 5. Apple did this in order to appeal to the people who need their phone to fit in their pocket. The new phone will be available on March 31.
For me, my phone rarely ever fits in my pocket so it is nice to hear Apple is accommodating people in that sense. However, I also think that since each phone Apple has made has gotten larger, a lot of people won't want to buy this phone because it doesn't follow the latest trends. Since it looks like the iPhone 5, people will think of it as the iPhone 5, which came out 3 or 4 years ago. Despite this, I think Apple is the best example of showing how fast technology advancements are developed. In the early 1900s, around the time that the Model T was invented, it took months to make one technological item. Now, thanks to the development of the assembly line and interchangeable parts and increase of workers and factories, complex cellular devices can be developed and made in less than a year.

I think it's a bit excessive for Apple to be coning up with these new models all the time, but it makes them a lot of money and more people want to buy the newer phones.

ReplyDeleteI was completely shocked about the size because of all the talk going around about the size.. its crazy
I find it interesting that after increasing the size of the iPhone to as large as it is now, they're scaling back. It will be interesting to see how well this version sells.

This is interesting that Apple wants to go back to the iPhone 5 model. But very true that whatever is "new" people will want to buy because people want to have the latest trend.
