Mississippi Flag Under Fire - Olivia Browne Period 6

Moore, a 39-year-old attorney, is suing Mississippi and its governor, arguing that the state flag and its design "are discriminatory and racist in nature." And he's hoping others will rally behind him at a demonstration Tuesday outside the state's Capitol. Mississippi's flag includes the Confederate battle emblem in its upper left corner. Moore told CNN he decided to take matters into his own hands after the legislature failed to get 19 bills to remove or redesign the flag out of committee. Gov. Phil Bryant, he said, hasn't taken growing calls to change the flag seriously.
Analysis: The Author is Joshua Berlinger and he appears to be a non-bias party. This article was created on March 6th, right after the incident had taken place, adding to the urgency. I had no prior knowledge of this event. The Audience is the concerned American public and this story has a positive effect on them. The reason for writing this article was to educate the American public on these occurrences. This directly relates to the fight for civil rights in 1960's.

  1. It has been 150 years since the civil war, but only 50 since the civil rights movement. If only people could let go of a silly thing such as color. (Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)

  3. It is crazy how racism still continues to be an issue today in society. Saying that, we still have come a long way, and hopefully will continue the progress to becoming a truly equal nation.

  4. Yeah it's kind of obvious that it's basically a confederate flag
