Jillian Linnear P.8 | 12-year-old raises money to build school

A 12-year old girl, named Jane Montgomery was inspired by the book The Promise of a Pencil, she decided that she should do more than donate a hundred dollar donation to the Pencils of Promise foundation. With that decision, she started a fundraiser where anyone who donated to her would receive a pack of pencils. Her fundraiser's goal was twenty-five thousand dollars but she was able to raise more than twenty-eight thousand dollars. With that money she built a school in Guatemala which she named Sparkle City School. The school is set to be built in about a year and Jane plans to visit the school once it is finished. This article was written to raise awareness of this little girl's achievement and to also let people know that donations can still be made.
