President Obama is visiting Cuba for the first time since the Cuban Revolution to resolve tension between the two countries. Previously, the US had broken off relations with Cuba and set an embargo against the country in place. But Obama's desire to improve relations with our southern neighbor has led him to meet with the Cuban President and visit the newly reopened US embassy in Havana. Hopefully this visit will ultimately improve relations and eventually even lift the embargo.
This event is similar to America's numerous foreign policy changes over the past century. for example, the policy change after WWI.
It is very important for presidents to work towards having a good relationship with other countries because as we've learned in the past world wars, alliances are key.
