As of right now, there are weak agreements in order to contain Iran's ability to create nuclear weapons. CIA director John Brennan said that he was "pleasantly surprised" that the Iranians had been able to continue as they had on their weaponry even with all of the US mandated cuts. Currently, US security takes the position that we are currently at one of the best deals that we may strike with a dangerous and powerful nation. American allies in the region are just as scared about ISIS and Al-Quada as we are. Israeli columnist Ari Shavit worries especially about what will happen when this region is in control of nuclear weapons. America has had a hard turn with terrorism since the 9/11 attacks. Americans have never felt as easy sleeping at night since foreign attackers have bombed our own buildings. Though we were the ones who initiated the nuclear weapons in Japan, it's now coming back as a slap in our face. Since then, we have often been militarily locked with other nations such as Russia since the Cold War until now. ISIS is the current threat to American safety. This has been fueled in part by reliance on the Middle East for oil and by the US introduction of nuclear weapons into mainstream usable warfare. Harry Truman was the president who decided to detonate the nuclear bomb in the first place, and now the US is dealing with the aftermath.
