Is our first Lady's, Lets Move campaign, working? By Megan Darlington

Michelle Obama's healthy eating campaign has turned 5 year old this easter! While our first lady is going out and making a difference in school lunch systems by providing more fruits and vegetables, has it been beneficial? Statistics show that childhood obesity under the age of 12 had dropped 3%, however for people 12-19, obesity has increased. She has encouraged americans to do 5 healthy things, such as eating 5 new vegetables, air doing 5 dance moves.
I think this campaign has had a positive impact on america. Like in our studies, this would relate to the era sometimes called alphabet soup where new groups were established such as NAACP, or WPA, or basically just put letters together and you'll get one of the reform groups. America being a healthier nation is extremely positive.

  1. Although her campaign has gotten a lot of negative feedback, I think that it is truly helping the country and hopefully the future we have ahead of us.

  2. I think what she is doing is wonderful. I think that she can only do so much then it is up to the people to make the change themselves. She is providing motivation and ways to be healthy, but people just don't seem to be biting.

  3. This is a good suggestion, but like Madeline said, it really is up to the people now. It takes a conscious decision to start being healthy, and unfortunately, if someone does not have the will to do well for their body, a campaign like this won't change their minds.
