Jeb Bush, who could be a candidate for the next presidential election, marked Hispanic on his voting registration paperwork. The New York Times published a copy to point it out to the public. Upon seeing this, Jeb's son tweeted about it, finding the information amusing. Jeb responded to the tweet jokingly saying, "my mistake! I don't think I've fooled anyone."
This was written by Jeremy Diamond for CNN on April 6th. Whether or not this was an actual mistake, whether he purposely marked Hispanic or was not paying close attention, why is this such a big deal in the media? I can see how some would interpret this as another scheme to become president like previous political leaders have done. However, even if he has done this to get attention, it won't do him much good compared to his actual experience with speaking Spanish and time living in Venezuela. Because people are already aware that he has connections to Latino voters, I believe that he simply made a mistake when filling out his voter registration. This kind of publicity is just not effective enough to be some kind of plan. Besides, there was no way for him to have known that his registration would even be published by the media. It had to be a mistake.
