Nina Pham was the first person on American soil to contract the Ebola virus after caring for Eric Duncan in September at Texas Health Resources in Dallas. Pham was a healthy nurse before she contracted the virus and she bravely cared for Duncan as he fought the virus. Yet, Pham claims that she wasn't properly trained, and is suing TX Health for lack of preparation for the nurses. In addition, she believes that the hospital invaded her privacy by releasing her information, but only after she signed a consent for them to do so. While the description of the case seems to look more like a dramatic novel, the case is far from over. THR will see Pham once again, but this time fighting for the rights of nurses and the rights of her own as a recovering patient.
Relates to APUSH through the many court cases, such as Brown v. Board of Education. Pham is denying that she was given the option of privacy, and she signed papers to care for Duncan and to have her information released. In my opinion, THR isn't completely the bad guy.
