Man killed by policemen- Hannah Clifford 5th Period

On Sunday, three policemen shot and killed a man on the ground. A bystander caught it on video and claimed that there was no reason for lethal force. The policemen said that they had tased the victim a few times, when he reached for an officer's gun, and then they began to shoot. Multiple witnesses have said that they saw no effort from the victim to try and grab a gun.

This was written by Michael Pearson, Holly Yan and Sara Sidner for CNN. Last year, we all heard the story of a young man being shot dead by a policeman with no evidence of an attempt to harm the officer. Unfortunately, this matter seems to be a reoccurring one. The police have been taking measures that are too extreme. Why couldn't these three men take down one guy without killing him? It doesn't make sense. Also, if the victim was being tased, how could he have possibly reached for someone else's gun? There are things in this story that just don't add up. However, they will be innocent until proven guilty, and with the pull that policemen seem to have, I doubt that these three will be arrested.

  1. It is so unfortunate that we are having these problems still. You made a really good point.. if there were three policemen how come they couldn't just restrain him without killing him. I have a hard time believing that killing him was the best and/or only option.

  2. I agree with you not completely! If there are 3 police officer they could have found a better way to catch him.
