After Indiana governor Mike Pence signed a law allowing businesses to refuse service to LGBT people on the grounds of 'religious freedom', Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy signed legislation that prohibited state funded travel to Indiana and other states that discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Malloy was one of many that have spoken out against laws of that manner, others including Tim Cook of Apple and Max Levchin, the co-founder of PayPal. They argued that not only did the legislation hurt Indiana's reputation, but that it was a human decency issue, and would also hurt the economy.
This could be taken as a step back from legislation made in the sixties and seventies, when a lot of rights' movements were taking place, however at the same time it shows just how far we've come as a nation, when people such as Mike Pence or Tim Cook fight back.
