U.S. district Judge Terrence Berg was shot in front of his home during a robbery attempt in Detroit last Thursday night. The Detroit police say that they believe it "happened during a robbery attempt, which likely had nothing to do with his profession." WDI reported that "Detroit police said two men approached Berg, a struggle ensued and a shot was fired, striking him in the leg. The two men, likely in their teens to early 20s, escaped the scene in a dark-colored Dodge Charger." Berg was immediately taken to the hospital after the event, but his injuries were not life threatening.
Andreas Preuss wrote this article for CNN on March 6th. Before reading this article I hadn't heard anything about the event. This article was written to inform the public of the incident and to clear up any speculation in regards to the motivation of the shooter. It was also written in order to see if anyone had any information on the robbers. It's understandable why many might think that he was targeted due to his profession, but that was not the case.

It's quite sickening to know that people like these robbers think shooting a man to get a few more bucks is okay. They are lucky that the judge was not shot to death because of their stupid decision to rob him.
ReplyDeleteIt's really terrible how people rob in the first place. We all have to work for what we want in this world and stealing isn't the answer. The robbery itself turned out unfortunate because the federal judge was shot and he didn't even have anything to do with it.
ReplyDeleteHe was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is so sad to see how ones actions can completely change the outcome of another's life.
