Last October at a Texas hospital, critical care nurse Nina Pham contracted Ebola and was being treated for it. Texas Health Presbyterian, the hospital in which Pham was being taken care of, refused to make her name or condition public. That is, until October 4 when the hospital released the statement "Nina Pham is in good condition," Pham says that the statement was not only an invasion of privacy, but a lie. At the time that the statement was released, Pham was in a life-threatening state and needed to be transfered to a different hospital. She believes the false statement was made to make the hospital look good, and is now filing a lawsuit.
I hope that Nina Pham is able to win the lawsuit filed against the hospital. They were wrong to release incorrect information about her without her consent. Hopefully the Texas Health Presbyterian will also learn from this experience and won't release false information about patients -- especially without their permission.
