Threats Exist in Silence - Sophia Davison

This story has incredible relevance to the recent times as well as personal plans, I thought. As Yahoo! News has reported, "The Vatican is on alert in case of an attack by Islamist militants against the city-state or Pope Francis, but officials are not aware of any specific plot, the head of Vatican security said in a rare interview." This news has, like many other nations at risk, been carried across videos and the internet through disgustingly brutal and morbid messages written by the forces at large currently. The Italian media has targeted the reports of these messages and focused quite dramatically on the threats. Of course, "'the threat exists. This is what has emerged from conversations with Italian and foreign colleagues,' Domenico Giani told Polizia Moderna, the magazine published by Italian police, when asked if threats from Islamic State militants were credible. '(But) at the moment I can say that we are not aware of any plan to attack the Vatican or the Holy Father,' he added in the interview, published on the magazine's website on Monday." Examples of the messages have been shown through media postings created by the Islamist attackers that have displayed their signature flag waving atop the statue centered in Saint Peter's Basilica, as well as dialogue heard throughout some of the beheading videos saying "Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for ... We will conquer Rome, by the will of Allah." An enormous quantity of guards has been generated and posted to all angles of the Vatican, and extra security measures including 4,800 soldiers released throughout Italy have been implemented.
With expected encounters with Rome myself quite soon, this gives a new perspective on the safety and mobility issues that have changed recently within the city, yet I feel not as worried as some might be. Yes, all centers for greatly contrasting beliefs to Islam are at a greater risk of possible threat to these forces at large, yet the whole world seems to be at risk at the moment. Wherever you are, the chances of risk and threat on ones life seem quite equally present as those from these groups. Although this calls on a certain extra level of caution and alertness, the best thing to do in the present is to take in and appreciate everything that is wonderful around us, enjoying the world's gifts to the highest extent that one can.

  1. I think that their main goal is to terrorize the entire world. They are hitting one country at a time in order to terrorize the people. This is terrible and I hope the threats will stop.
