American Airlines flight makes an emergency landing in SFO by Jonell Williams, 2nd Period

An American Airlines jet had to make an emergency landing in the San Francisco International Airport on Monday because of a blown air duct, which caused some of the cabin panels to buckle. The flight originally took of from SFO at 1:16pm and had to make a U-turn back to SFO at 2:15pm. The original destination was Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport. All 184 passengers and six crew members from the American Airlines flight 2293 are safe and the cabins did not lose any pressure midway through flight, said Ian Gregor the Federal Aviation Administration spokesman. The plane itself, a Boeing 757 will be out of service to figure out the technical issue that lead to the emergency landing.
About an hour after the departure of the plane, the flight had to take an immediate U-turn so at least the problem could be deal with in a timely fashion. Technical problems during airline flights are always a huge scare for obvious reasons, and the fact that the problem was not as severe and caught early is a huge save for the souls inside. Both articles that I referenced from are very recent and are not extensive in detail. But they serve to inform and hit the who, what, when, and where, and now technicians are figuring out the why and how.

  1. I'm glad nobody was hurt. This is why the people must demand quality service from companies, especially if they are putting their lives at risk.

  2. American Airlines can be seen as both irresponsible and heroic by this article. Good for them for saving their passengers, but how come the plane wasn't thoroughly inspected prior to taking off?

  3. I'm so happy that no one was injured during the flight. American Airline has been through a lot in the past year and this is one less thing that they need. Maybe inspecting the plane more before allowing passengers to board the plane

  4. I wish this article had been more extensive, but I agree with the above comments. American Airlines has proved that they can be reliable in disastrous situations like this. On the other hand, planes should be more thoroughly inspected to ensure that one's safety is not at risk when flying.
