Academic fraud, UNC students likely will keep degrees- Ausia Jones

In Chapel Hill, North Carolina at UNC is where the biggest academic fraud has been recorded in history. Which is a huge blow in there reputation. This has been going on for 18 years now. The act of fraud was done to make sure that the athletes were able to play on the field. 3,100 students who enrolled in fake classes all now have a degree stamped with the seal of the University of North Carolina. One student was enrolled in 19 different paper classes. "UNC has to verify every degree they give all the time. We ask them to make sure all courses really are legitimate," the president of the association said. There is not a way they can take these degrees back even if they weren't earned properly. A lot of people new about this but it wasn't ever shared with the public. This is a huge deal and is crazy. So many people received degrees that they didn't deserve. The fact that the school allow this to happen for 18 years is insane and that very hard for the school to cover up.

  1. This is a revolting display of academic dishonesty. It is terribly unfair that these people have received degrees and have benefitted immensely from this dishonest act. I hope that some sort of action is taken to prevent this from continuing to happen.

  2. I agree that it is very unethical for any school to allow their students to get degrees they don't deserve. I would like to hear what happened to the faculty now at UNC and see if they are sued or fired or whatever it might be. Maybe not so much the faculty but maybe the principal for leading the schedule for 18 years. Education should be given equally and earned equally.
