UNC Student Fraud- Lauren Kuehmeier, Period 2

3,100 students at the University of North Carolina have received diplomas and degrees by taking fake classes. Now, once these diplomas and degrees have been distributed they are nearly impossible to take away. After further investigation, administrators found that these "fake classes" were actually being suggested to these students by consolers. Consolers were doing this out of pity to keep students grades up and for over half of the students needed these paper classes to keep them edible for athletics.

It's certainly not a secret that athletes and their grades get special treatment at schools, while that's unfair it's especially shameful for a college to let such corruption occur. I just don't understand how so many students could get away with academic fraud without the administration noticing. While it seems suspicious, the worst is that these students get to keep the degrees as well. Students qualified or unqualified are earning the same degrees and are going on in the same fields, yet nothing can be done.
