Women Fighting ISIS - Sophie Potrykus 2nd

ISIS has turned into a black hole sucking up the Middle East's worst. Just when we thought they couldn't do anything for us to hate them more, they have begun enslaving women, exploiting them sexually and killing them. In response to these heinous crimes, women in Iraq and Syria have moved up to the front lines in order to fight against these vicious thugs. The UN estimates there are at least 2,500 victims of ISIS as of now, and the number keeps on climbing. These women are being lured in and being raped and treated like dirt, as Vian Dakhil says, "We are being slaughtered, we are being exterminated." Countless women are now lacing up their boots and heading to battlefield, and others are organizing a multitude of resistance rally's against ISIS. We can only hope these women make a huge impact in order to save those in the clutches of the terrorist group ISIS.

  1. this is interesting given islamic roles for women. I would be curious to see if women fighting for isis would change these roles down the road

  2. This is cool to see how women are taking o roles not normally assigned to them by strict islamic gender roles to me this says that the world as whole is moving more toward equality for women.
