Same-Sex Marriage Legalized in Alaska by Corran Nolan

Alaska's 16 year ban on same-sex marriage has finally been overturned by the Supreme Court. The ban, passed in 1998, defined marriage as an act between one man and one woman. On Sunday, the Supreme Court overturned the ban, saying "the Constitution guarantees equal protection for all," Alaska will appeal, however it will most likely have limited success, since the US Court of Appeals ruled against States in similar cases last week. Alaska was one of the first two states to pass bans against same-sex marriage, the other being Hawaii, however in May five same-sex couples brought the case to court. This was after the Supreme Court allowed many other States to create same-sex legalizing marriage laws.
This is another step in the right direction, in my opinion. This situation is similar to the government forming stages of the early, Post-Revolutionary US, in which the Articles of Confederation afforded to much power to the States, which was then balanced in the Constitution, so that there was more coherence and fairness throughout, and the States couldn't LEGALLY get away with things like the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions.
