How do we tell our kids?

President Trump has kept the U.S. government shutdown for the longest ever in U.S. history until Congress agrees to pay for his wall. Government workers aren't sure how much longer they can last without a paycheck. This corresponds with the Gilded Age in that the same instability that "non-essential" government employees was experienced by farmers of the late 19th century when the U.S. government forced them to buy expensive American machinery and still compete internationally with cheap European and Asian farmers. Farmers from that period were unsure how they could feed their families just as today's government employees aren't sure how much longer they will be able to feed theirs. This morning on NPR, there was a mother who has been working without pay for the last 24 days talking about how she had to explain to her toddler that they can't do things right now because she's not getting paid. Her son was confused because she still went to work. How long till the shutdown affects the people in this article? How long until Nick L. can no longer pay his infant's medical bills? How long until Tanisha runs out of food and gas? The president is ready to ruin Americans' lives for months or years because he hates Brown people so much. How do we explain this hate to our kids? How do we tell our kids that Americans are struggling because our leader hates non-Americans so much? How do we tell our kids?
So this is what you were quoting in class. This is very well-written and I support every statement and question addressed here. Trump really appears to be a selfish businessman would has no regard for other human beings here. This shutdown really shouldn't be happening.
