ANALYSIS: Martin Luther King Jr. Day spotlights diversity in the 2020 Democratic field - Alma Alvarado-Cabrera

In this Holiday weekend one can imagine that Martin Luther King Jr. himself would be proud of the fact that more than ever before, the slate of Democratic candidates is representing the entire electorate with the most diverse party, in terms of race , ethnicity , gender and religion. An LGBTQ candidate may announce his run soon as well. Last cycle , many progressive cycles were viewed by moderate Democrats in congress as too radical and impractical. This year moderate candidates are already shifting their answers and speeches to embrace and amplify a united call for ideas.

This article was published today , January 21,2019 by abcNews and was written by Mary Alice Parks. I knew about this and how people in politics are more diverse now. This much reminds me of women rights and the right to vote for minorities after the civil war since we even had an African American president , Barack Obama . This article was written for everyone to be informed about the diversity in politics . Representing what the U.S really looks like with diversity. This article is important because it shows many people especially the youth that minorities can take on big roles , no matter religion , ethnicity or even gender .
