This morning, on January 28, The White House announced a new round of trade negotiations with China as the Trump administration seeks a hard to achieve deal with Beijing. Officials from the U.S. and China will “discuss the trade relationship between the two countries” on Wednesday and Thursday in Washington. President Trump is facing pressure from business groups to form an agreement with Beijing, which he has long accused of ripping off the U.S. on trade.
This article is relates to what we’re learning in US history right now. Trade with China was banned in the US until the early 1970s. Another connection to US history is the Open Door Policy which allowed for a system of trade in China open to all countries equally. This protected the United States’ trade with china.
