Summary: Hundreds of thousands of federal workers returned to work on Monday after the longest gov. shutdown in history. Lawmakers have until Feb. 15 to reach a compromise at the Republican request for billions of dollars for the border wall, as Democrats refuse to pay funds. Trump told Wall Street Journal on Sunday, "I personally think it's less than 50-50". The president promised the 800,000 employees who had been furloughed or forced to work that they would be paid “very quickly or as soon as possible,” without providing a specific date. Another gov. shutdown could prove to be detrimental.

Analysis: This article was written by Eileen Sullivan and Alan Binder. For such a long article it is understandable that 2 people worked on this. It is strange there is no time specified like other news websites, but the article was written and posted today. The gov. shutdown was all over the news, so of course I knew what was going on. I can relate this to Bill Clinton's 1995-1996 government shutdown, as it was also long. It has a negative influence on the audience, because of the misery written of the federal workers. This article was written because the gov. shutdown recently ended and the looming question over the wall is still unanswered. This article is important, because this was the longest gov. shutdown in history, affecting many many people other than federal workers too. And the gov. shutdown being over the wall is very tiring to hear of, but it is very major.
