After thousands of children were separated from their parents earlier this year under Trump's policy, Trump ended the policy. The Department of Health and Human Services identified 2,737 children separated from their parents. However, on Friday, the HHS gave a report that said there was an increase in children separated at the border starting in 2017. This was nearly a year before the "zero tolerance policy" was announced. This report estimates thousands of kids were separated before the policy was announced. Most children have been reunited with their families.
This relates to earlier this year, when the children were first revealed to be separated from their parents. I can tell this is going to be very important in future American history classes because it's a very new concept. Personally, I believe it's morally corrupt to separate children from their families.
