Local family farmers are struggling with the government shutdown, especially in this time, when winter is coming to an end and farmers begin to take out loans and such. Beginning with Trump's tariffs, profits fell, and farmers struggled to make ends meet. Many of the markets have nowhere to go, and with the government shutdown, farmers can't get their loans and tax returns because many producers didn't want to sign until after tax returns. Now, when they were going to sign they can't due to the government shutdown.
This government shutdown is inadvertently affecting the US economy, and most importantly, thousands of families are struggling to move money. This is similar to the gilded age, where many family businesses and farms suffered due to high tariffs, yet today, the extra blow of the government shutdown is causing chaos amongst families, and food production as well. The purpose of this shutdown is to get funding for the wall, however, the losses are so much greater than trump's whims, and this shouldn't be occurring.
