"Earprints, tail therapy and calorie scanners: Japan's latest inventions" - Youssef Bakr

CNN's Jenni Marsh has composed a list of eight new technologies that are coming from Japan in 2019. They include an army of factory robots, a possible switch from easily-duplicated fingerprints to new, more secure "earprints" and a scanner that roughly measures the nutritional value of food placed in front of it.

We live in a time of rapid technological growth, known as the Information Age (also called the Computer Age, Digital Age and New Media Age), which is a new historical period beginning in the 21st century and is characterized by the shift from industry and manufacturing to information technology.

The era is very similar to the Industrial Revolution, which marked the change in the western world that transformed it from rural areas to urban, industrialized ones. Like the Industrial Revolution, the Information Age has brought about dramatic changes in agriculture, mining, transportation, communication, production and access to information.
