A passenger on a flight from Atlanta Heartsfeild-Jackson Airport carried a firearm onto the flight. TSA says that  protocol was not followed and the passenger did not go through the TSA checkpoint. They say that there’s been a security breach and TSA is still required to work but without pay due to the shutdown. They also have said that hundreds of workers have called in sick so they have low numbers.

In my opinion this happened due to the shutdown. I don’t think the president intended for it to but because of his actions to shutdown the government workers are not getting paid so they’re not going to work. This is what allowed this passenger to board the plane without going through the checkpoint.    You also have to think about what if that passenger wanted to harm anyone on that flight.

In this day and age I don’t think there should be any room left for error or we might just repeat history. An event like 9/11 could occur again right now because of these people not going to work and they shouldn’t be forced to or have a guilty  conscience if something happens. It would be so much easier for someone to plot an attack right now when the airports are most vulnerable. You
