Saudi Sisters' Death | Daniella Castanheira

Two Saudi sisters, Rotana Farea, 23, and Tala Farea, 16, were found dead along the banks of the Hudson River on October 24. The sisters were last seen in Fairfax, Virginia on August 23, 2017, and were living normally until their credit card was maxed out. Evidence suggests that the girls were alive when they entered the water, and did not jump from the George Washington Bridge. Their deaths are currently being labeled as a suicide, although both the New York Police Department and Saudi officials are investigating further.

Due to the amount of evidence available as of now, I am not informed enough to definitively say whether the girls committed suicide or not. What I can say, however, is that this is truly a tragedy and loss of life should never be taken lightly. This reminds me of the death of Kurt Cobain, which was argued over as to whether or not it was a suicide, eventually leading to a Seattle court taking action. People still talk about Cobain's death to this day, and it is wildly contested. Hopefully, the same amount of passion goes into discovering the truth and remembering Rotana and Tala Farea.

  1. This is interesting to me because of all the possibilities and events that could've gone down. I hope the truth is found and the family is doing okay.
