A 24 year old black man named Danye Jones was found hanging from a tree. His mother, a Black Lives Matter campaigner believes his son was lynched in retaliation to her role in the organization. The police are investigating the death as a suicide despite the family's claims of finding bruises on his face and "hung in a way he couldn't do himself".
I think it's terrible that the police won't even attempt to investigate Danye's death as a lynching. I think that there's reason for them to with his mother being a social activist. I also think it's awful that there's still even reason to believe a black boy was lynched in 2018.
I can connect this to countless black people in history who have been lynched by white people for no reason other than the color of their skin. It also reminds me of Emmet Till, a black boy that was killed by a group of white men in 1955. His case was put in court, only for the men involved to be sent away with no time in prison. The only difference between this case and Till's case is that Jones' case will likely never be seen in court.

I also did a article over Danye Jones, and I agree with you. What the police are failing to do is absolutely horrible. And the fact no one is saying his name or even knows this happened is even worse. - Faith Stevens, 6th Period
