Isabella Bruner-Black girls have been playing with white dolls for a long time

A video has come out with a white girl defending her choice of picking a black doll when the cashier told her the doll didn't look like her. " Yes, she does. She's a doctor like I'm a doctor. And I'm a pretty and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?" said Sophia, a 2 year old. Even though the mother and Sophia got lots of support, it did bring up an interesting point. Black girls and boys regularly play with white dolls and action figures. "All children need to see themselves in a positive light, and that begins with their playthings and the books that they read,"  said Garrett, the author of a book called Black Dolls: A Comprehensive Guide to Celebrating, Collecting, and Experiencing the Passion. Black dolls have been since 1930s were a company was mass producing them, but remained disproportionately underrepresented.  Its important for black children o have black dolls as it creates the 'norm', to represent their ethnicities " to promote cultural diversity and an awareness that we are all one race: human."

This article is about the ideas of equality, going all the way to dolls for children. This article was written by William Cunningham on April/8/2017. This is a very controversial topic, as showing diversity to us as a human race, comes as early as the stuff we play with when we are kids. I support having different ethnicities to dolls, it shows our people as one and when can be anything we want. This subject can relate to the Civil Rights movement as supporters need to converse and combine in a group to show our rights and how the way we want to live our life.

  1. When younger kids show us how to live or enlighten us on what is morally right, it comes from someone pure and truthful due to their age.

  2. This is so important. Black girls need the same representation as white girls do so that they grow up the same.
