Imminent Threat Of Nuclear War- Elijah Macias

Summary: North Korea's deputy U.N. ambassador accused the United States on Monday of turning the Korean Peninsula into "the world's biggest hotspot" and creating "a dangerous situation in which a thermonuclear war may break out at any moment." If the US attacks North Korea with any strike they are "ready to react to any mode of war desired by the U.S." He says the US's deployment of nuclear warships in the proximity of the Korean Peninsula "proves the U.S. reckless moves for invading the D.P.R.K (Democratic People's Republic of Korea)have reached a serious phase of its scenario."
Mike Pence traveled to the border of South Korea and North Korea and announced that "the era of strategic patience is over." And he warned that any use of nuclear weapons by Pyongyang would be met with "an overwhelming and effective response." North Korea has since conducted a Nuclear test in which the missile exploded 4 seconds after take off. Kim Jong Un has stated that as long as South Korea and the US threaten their Korean Socialism, that they will not stop building their arsenal and will continue to test their nukes whenever they please. Tensions continue to grow.

Analysis: I had many nightmares of this kind of situation happening when I was smaller after being introduced to the evils of nuclear warheads, and i'm shocked to see it come true. This is very serious, yet I see so little people following whats going on. Trump has already shown us, with the recent Syrian bombings, that he will not tell the people ahead of time what his plan is. There must be a diplomatic resolve to this  sticky situation, and I hope the US finds it before we do anything rash. Because if not, we will find ourselves with a very very high death count in the Korean peninsula, and here in America. North Korea is allies with nuclear power China, and China has been trying to help the situation, I just hope we don't anger China in this situation- it's not North Korea i'm scared of, it's China.
This is eerily similar to the Cuban Missile crisis of the Cold War era. Both are situations that threaten the lives of millions over stupid disagreements.
Don't get me wrong, i would love nothing more than seeing Kim Jong Un and his pitiful regime obliterated, but I think of all the innocent people that will die if this situation escalates and the repercussions it will have on the US and world history. Lets all hope this will be resolved without Nukes or missile strikes.

  1. North Korea's threats are scary. Mainly because of how unpredictable and crazy their dictator is. I hope China and the U.S. can work together to resolve this issue.
