Trump and his aides take hard line on border wall, as threat of government shutdown looms
Joshua Klein
In this article, Trumps desire to still build a wall is outlined. He claims that doing so would halt all drug problems coming in from Mexico. He still also claims that Mexico will pay for it, even though the Mexican president said that he would not. In response to this issue becoming more present in the front of issues for congress, democrats have highlighted there intentions to resist funding the wall at all costs. This makes for a shaky situation, in congress and the government is threatening to shut down for a short time with the current state of congress.
I am surprised that Trump is still determined to build a wall. I thought that he was just saying that he would build a wall to gain far right extremists too vote for him. Apparently he is still determined to build it, and it seems to be at the top of the agenda. Democrats are unlikely to budge on the issue and a fair bit of republics such as house speaker Paul Ryan are unlikely to back this issue.
