Kyla Thomas (1st Period)-- Ilie Nastase Under Investigation for Controversial Serena Williams Comments

Summary: This article is about a man named Ilie Nastase who allegedly made comments on Serena Williams and her family. This past week Serena Williams, #1 in the world female tennis star, announced her pregnancy with her fiance, Alexis Ohanian, via Snapchat. In fact, she is 20 weeks pregnant and the pregnancy has already sparked remarks from critics, such as Ilie Nastase. According  to the Press Association, the Romanian Fed Cup captain said, "Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?" The ITF doesn't tolerate these kinds of racist comments and they plan to further investigate before taking the appropriate action.

Analysis: Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player who has been ranked #1 for seven times from 2002 to 2017 which in turn means that she is successful. She is engaged to the Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian and they recently announced that they would be having  a child together more than likely in September of 2017. Their relationship has sparked much controversy considering the fact that they are an interracial relationship. The comment that was made about their baby was foul and uncalled for. Those kind of comments and statements are meant to be had at the kitchen table and not in the public for everyone to critique and give opinions on. It's a pure sign of disrespect. In relation to history, interracial relationships used to be illegal. Before 1967, it was illegal for blacks and whites to get married. The only times that mixed babies were conceived was when the white slave owners raped the black women slaves. In 2017, mixed couples are much more common.
