emily anderson - nuclear weapons policy

It is about that time that the Pentagon has began to review the nuclear weapons policy. This review happens every eight years, the last one being in 2010. This review will be discussed for the rest of the year, to be introduced in 2018. For the past 10-20 years of the nuclear weapons policy, there has been an extreme de-emphasis on the matter. Now that other countries may be rehearsing their nuclear weapons as well, the United States just might have to become more involved. President Trump said he wished that there were no nukes in the world, but since there are, the US must be at the top of the game. The Department of Defense, headed by Secretary of Defense James Mattis, announced that they have officially started the nuclear weapons policy review for the rest of the year.
Ever since World War II, nuclear weapons have been a major issue in the world. Starting with the Cuban Missile crisis which was the closest the world has gotten to a nuclear war. Eventually backing down from this, the Soviet Union and Unites States made a deal to halt testing of nuclear weapons. This started what we call the nuclear weapons policy review. Once every eight years this happens, and lately it appears that the policy could change from what it has been for about the past at least 20 years. This is a very controversial topic because this is a big thing to deal with. The type of weaponry we decide to use can impact the US's future and be a notable change in history.

  1. Nuclear war will destroy our planet, which is why so many people are concerned about it. It won't matter who ends up winning because there will be no planet to live on anymore!
