First Black Female Judge on New York's Highest Court Died - Katie Schuldenberg

Last week the body of Sheila Abdus-Salaam, first black female judge on New York's highest court, was found in the Hudson River. Her death is currently being investigated and suicide is a possibility, however, signs of "criminality" show that it might have been murder. The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of death, meaning there are multiple possible scenarios. Her death rose questions due to her family's history of suicide; her mother and brother committed suicide in 2012 and 2014.
Being the first female judge on that court, Sheila probably experienced a lot of respect, as well as judgement and racism. I sincerely hope that her death, whatever the cause, leaves an inspiration for girls striving for occupations that have been overpowered by men.
