Seanelle Higgins: United's Pledge to Flyers

Summary: After passenger David Dao was viciously ripped from his airplane seat recently, United Airlines has pledged to never remove another passenger from their airplane seat again. This has sparked a movement with fellow airlines, like Delta, who has stated that it is willing to give up about $10,000 for someone to give up their seats, and American Airlines, who says they will not remove a passenger once seated. Caught by cell phone video, the horrible harrasment of Dao was broadcasted all over social media to see, effectively sparking a ton of backlash for United. There is most likely going to be a costly lawsuit for Dao's troubles, and United is definitely not going to let it happen again.

Analysis:  I think that it is sad that these airlines should even have to put out these statements. What happened to Dao was inexcusable, and if an airline company makes a mistake on their own behalf, they should inconvenience themselves, not their costumers bringing them money. If passengers are already seated and have it in their minds that they are going to reach their destination, they should not be removed from their seats. I hope three backlash and lawsuit teach United, and other airlines alike, a true lesson.
